In 1913 the pioneering Gulf brand changed the habits of the motoring world, when it opened the world's first drive through service station in 1913 in Pittsburgh USA. Today Gulf's presence within the service station/fuel retail sector is a major success story, the Orange Disc logo and smart, modern designs for Gulf Service Stations becoming increasingly familiar in many countries.

All Gulf service stations are independently owned and operated, with the support and backing of one of the worlds most famous brands. In many countries other service station networks have contracted or restructured to only serve major routes, Gulf has bucked this trend and in the UK Gulf is the fasted growing service station network.
In addition to the UK (pictured below), Gulf service station networks can currently be found in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Jordan, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Slovakia and Turkey. Many have turned to the Gulf brand in recent years because of the flexibility and control afforded in comparison with many of the other major brands. This coupled with the every increasing prominence of the Gulf brand through its winning partnership with Aston Martin Racing has highlighted the opportunities available. |

The distinctive Gulf Orange Disc logo and modern design of many of the service station sites have helped to re-enforce the high quality service that the Gulf brand represents. Many sites offer additional facilities such as shops, car washes, car maintenance and refreshment facilities. In some cases this has involved partnering with high quality food suppliers to enhance the retail sites role as local shop as well as a fuel station. A perfect example of this is in Luxembourg where the local distributors have partnered with a high profile delicatessen chain called Cactus Shoppi to supply all the food at their sites. Not only does this improve the opportunities of cross-selling but also puts the Gulf brand at the centre of the community.

With current networks expanding and new distributors being constantly appointed, many are realizing the strength of this proposition. However Gulf Oil International still continues to seek new opportunities to expand its offering into new markets and regions.
